Halfway Crit

Today we had the big Crit halfway through the module. It is now clear what work goes in what section of the project. 

Project Journal & Blog

This will be a paper based folder of time management sheets and tutorial feedback forms to document the ongoing progress that you are making.

Design Strategy

This is anything that we do that will help us to progress on from Uni. This includes Portfolio, Business Cards, Setting up your own website, Work Placements, Emailing companies about Work Placements or your Portfolio, Speaking to people from Industry about your Portfolio and finding a job.

Design Context

This is understanding the nature of your practice. Finding out what companies are out there doing Retail Graphics. Speaking to Companies about what they do and how they do it will help to inform your practice. Also includes Case Studies and Interviews. At the end of this research I am going to create a book that would be the perfect book if i could buy it that would inform my design practice.

Design Practice

This is all the practical work that we are doing at the moment. All the briefs that we work on will be part of our Design Practice.

Mituyu Brief 

This brief is more or less finished so I just needed peoples opinions on whether it worked and how I could make it a more fulfilled brief. 

From the feedback I got it was said that I could have more applications of the logo such as a business card, letterhead and an example of an online presence. I am going to photograph the bag and gift box I have already made to send to the client and also for my portfolio. I am going to consider screen printing a T-Shirt for photographing purposes.

RMUK Pricelist

This was a quick one day brief to show layout skills and to use In Design again. The brief had been completed for the crit so I just needed any extra suggestions and opinions. 

The feedback that I got was to make a bit of the price list perferated so it could be torn off to use as an appointment card/business card but I had already done this so I think I need to make this more clear. Also to include the phone number and website on this area of the price list, which is something that I will add. I could also redesign the logo or website if I wanted to add more to the project which is something I may consider. To present this in my portfolio I am going to have context shots showing the different ways it can be used and in different situations.

JD Sports Store Layout

This brief has just been started so I wanted to know how far I should go in the layout of the shop and how it should be resolved.

Everyone thought I should be experimental with the redesign of the layout of the store as this would make the brief more conceptual. I will still keep to the image that JD Sports has but improve the layout. I could conduct a customer review to find out if they are happy with the current layout or what could be changed to make it better.
