Rachel Oliver from Gratterpalm Visits!

Today Rachel Oliver visited us who is a senior designer at Gratterpalm. She talked about her journey through the design world and how she ended up working at Gratterpalm. I had a chat with her this afternoon about my portfolio and she gave me some really useful advice. I should focus my portfolio on Retail because this is the area I want to work in. If I want to show I can work in different areas I should tie it back to Retail such as designing a website for a clothing shop or by making it part of one of my briefs.

Yesterday with Justin we discussed designing the full Graphics of a coffee shop for the main part of my final major project but today Rachel suggested focussing on a fashion area, maybe a jewellery shop or clothes for a different market, because this is the area that I am interested in the most.

We talked about Retail Graphics Companies around Leeds and she told me about 16 Hands which I am going to look at. I am also going to arrange a visit to Gratterpalm to see how they work and get a feel for the working environment.
